The Ninja FlexFlame is one of the most impressive grills we’ve ever used—one that’s carving out a space of its own. Much like indoor appliances have evolved for speed and efficiency, the FlexFlame brings that same mindset outside. It’s not just another gas grill. It’s a smarter, more fuel-conscious system that’s shaking up the grilling category.

This 5-in-1 cooking system was pressure-tested by 75 chefs around the globe. After two years in development, it’s finally out and alive in backyards this summer. Consider this your early heads-up: you're going to be hearing a lot more about it. It grills. It smokes. It roasts, griddles, and yes—you can even add an artisan pizza stone.

What really stands out is how fast it heats up and cooks. But it’s the how that deserves the spotlight. It’s built to be more efficient, using 25% less propane than the Weber Genesis.

We cook outdoors a lot. Most weeks, we’d rotate between our pizza oven, smoker, and propane grill—burning through propane tanks more often than we’d like to admit. Switching to a 5-in-1 system changed that. One product. All the functions. And a noticeable drop in fuel use.

How does it use less propane than other grills?

The FlexFlame’s efficiency comes from how it handles heat. I’ve called it a "convection grill" when explaining it to friends. It’s a little like your convection oven (but better) and a little like your air fryer (also better). Ninja’s CyclonicHeat-iQ™ technology drives heat circulation so effectively, you’ll notice the difference from your first cookout. We still rotate bigger pieces of meat, but tested on salmon, chicken wings, sausages, and tater tots—yes, really—the process involved nearly no effort.

The result: faster preheating, fewer flare-ups, and no need to crank the dial just to keep things cooking.

A Few Other Features We Like

  • Built-in smoker box adds flavor. This is an exceptionally nice add-on, and it's extremely easy to use. If you like the idea of a smoker but aren't set on purchasing another system for the effect, the FlexFlame gets it done. Traeger fans, I know you appreciate a long day spent smoking, but the convection air circulation in the FlexFlame speeds up even a low and slow smoke while burying the food in really great smoky flavor as it cooks.
  • Plus, cold smoking: You don't need heat to operate the smoker. This makes it possible to smoke literally anything from water and alcohol to your glassware and vegetables.
  • The burners run side to side, not front to back. Think about that for a minute. It really changed how we position our food on the cooking surface, and how we can manage food that needs to be prepared at different flame levels.
  • Accessories galore: From the expandable roast and smoke rack to the full- and half-griddle modules, the extras unlock even more use cases—and show off just how multifunctional this system really is.
