Bathrooms are moving beyond the practical to become the ultimate sanctuary for wellness and relaxation. 69% of designers and 53% of homeowners rank a spa-inspired bathroom among their top 3 home priorities overall. “The cornerstone of a spa-worthy bathroom is a soothing color palette. Think soft, muted colors like pale blues, greens, beige, and pastel shades,” offers Sarah Eilers of Lucas & Eilers. “These colors create a serene and calming atmosphere that mimics the tranquility of a spa”

Metallics Are Making a Statement

2024 will be the year of metallics! Designers selected metallic accents as their number one up-and-coming trend, while homeowners rated it number two. “I use metal and metallics to make spaces feel more glamorous and luxurious,” says Richard T. Anuszkiewicz. “When you subtly balance these elements in, it can deliver high impact and allow the space to truly shine. Kitchen Remains King

Investment in the kitchen remains the number one priority for homeowners and designers. They're allocating an even bigger slice of their renovation budgets to creating a dream space. 83% of designers and 70% of homeowners are now bringing kitchens to the outdoor spaces as well. “Our clients believe that quality will stand the test of time,” shares Barry Dixon. We are seeing more high-end appliances and cabinets than ever before- as well as multiple sinks, a special ‘trophy’ range, lots of counter space and hidden appliances”

Commercial Design Influences Residential Homes

Homeowners and designers alike look to hotel design trends as they shed influence on residential spaces. “Resimmercial” is the convergence of commercial and residential design coming together, with home spaces adopting hospitality-inspired upgrades for sophistication and luxury, while hotels are also pushed to accommodate the blurred lines of home, work, and play as it pertains to travel and remote work flexibility.

“As residential design elements integrate into commercial spaces, there’s been a trend toward more inviting and comfortable hospitality environments,” shares designer Laura Kirar. “For example, the use of warm and cozy textiles, open and flexible floor plans and layouts that encourage interaction and relaxation, and nature-inspired elements like natural materials, which contribute to a soothing and rejuvenating ambiance.”

The use of sustainable materials will continue to rise in 2024. 70% of designers and 58% of homeowners opt to select sustainable products and demonstrate increased awareness of environmental impact. A growing range of products makes adoption easier than ever.
