A new partnership between True Residential and Caliber birthed the Rockwell Social Grill, a product for homeowners with a passion for innovation and architectural design.
Designed by the iconic David Rockwell and crafted by Caliber, the namesake grill has plentiful features and benefits. From its 360-degree walk-around grill design, range of colors, and sleek disappearing lid, it's safe to say:Â
This isn't just a grill; it's part of the party.
A True-Caliber Collaboration
True is now the sole manufacturer for Caliber grills. This partnership brings Caliber’s fire and True’s cool together—literally. Known for its commercial-quality refrigeration and eye for detail, the brands now offer one complete outdoor kitchen lineup, one where you don’t have to choose between performance and looks.
“At True, our research and development team has led refrigeration through continuous innovation and optimization for over 80 years," shared Kay Trulaske, Sales & Marketing at True Residential in the product's press release. "Likewise, Caliber’s shared commitment to excellence in both engineering and aesthetic integrity exemplifies the underlying synergy between our two American-made brands."
It's offered in four sizes: 36", 42", 48" inches wide, and 60" freestanding. There’s also flexibility in function—you can choose a standard grill or a griddle, propane or natural gas.
The body is built from True’s commercial-grade 300-series stainless steel, and for the more design-driven, there are 84 color and hardware combinations to choose from. (84!)
What Sets This Grill Apart
- Fully retractable “disappearing” lid with counterbalance mechanism
- Four size options: 36", 42", 48", 60" models to accommodate custom/built-in applications
- Opt for grilling or griddle; propane or natural gas tank
- 20,000 BTU Crossflame burners (15,000 BTU cooking element on griddle)
- Fits in 24” deep cabinets
- Upgraded grease flow with angled firebox pitch
- Durable Weber Knapp hinges
- Superior engineering and 300-series stainless steel sheet metal

The updated build also comes with some subtle but smart changes. Its depth was reduced by three inches, making it narrower than other premium products and easier to install in standard cabinetry. The firebox also has a steeper angle to help grease flow out better. And Caliber’s usual spring-loaded valves were swapped for stronger Weber Knapp hinges. These aren’t things most people think about, but improvements that make a notable difference.
It's impressive to see how the partnership brings everything together. The whole setup, from fridge drawers to cooktops, is made to work together, look good, and last.
For homeowners, architects, and designers looking for something that’s both functional and different, this exterior grill lineup is worth a second look. From custom finishes to dependable materials, the Caliber Griddle by David Rockwell and the broader True Caliber range raise the bar on outdoor kitchens.
